Description Technical Specs   Eli-Flex, FR993, is used on all types of rubber and non-food quality PVC/urethane belts, including fabric and steel cord belts. It is suitable for repairing holes, tears, splits, rips, gouges, missing filler strips, worn patches, clip joint / fastener sealing, edge repairs, re-building cleats, chevrons and sidewalls, worn drum lagging, roller coatings, friction linings etc. Data Sheet     Brief Instructions Eli-Flex is so easy to use that 90% of the repairs you will encounter in the field will be covered by this document. Simple Instructions  Material Safety Data Sheet for Eli-Flex FR993     Instruction Manuals:   Repairing a tear along the length of the belt  (Longitudinal tear or cut) Rips that run alone the length of the belt are a common type of belt damage.  The longitudinal strength of the belt is not significantly altered however the weight of the material forces the tear open and material falls through.  Rips and tears less than 36" can be easily and cost effectively repaired using only Eli-Flex FR909 conveyor belt repair resin.  If the rip is longer than 36" insert a Flexco every 24".  Make sure you recess / countersink mechanical fasteners down to the first layer of fabric carcass. Longitudinal Instructions             Repairing a tear along the width of the belt  (Lateral tear, rip or cut) A lateral tear/rip in the belt dramatically reduces the belt strength.  For every 5% of the fabric carcass that is torn the belt strength is reduced by 30%.  A mechanical fastener like Flexco, MINET, Goro or Mato will be required to support the belt, however the metal clips should be covered to protect the belt cleaner and the metal clips from wear.  In order to protect the belt cleaner you MUST recess/countersink mechanical fasteners as indicated below. Lateral Instructions               Repairing a tear along the edge of the belt (Side wall tear, rip or cut) A lateral tear/rip in the belt dramatically reduces the belt strength.  For every 5% of the fabric carcass that is torn or ripped the belt strength is reduced by 20%.  A mechanical fastener like Flexco, Goro, or Mato will be required to support the belt, however the metal clips should be covered to protect the belt cleaner and the metal clips from wear.  In order to protect the belt cleaner you MUST recess/countersink mechanical fasteners as indicated below.  If the ratio of metal to rubber exceeds 70/30 we recommend the use of Elite FR704 adhesion promoter to ensure Eli-Flex 909 bonds to the mechanical fastener.
